ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of dietary consumption of monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) on the control of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods One hundred and eighty-five patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from a community in Shanghai were randomly divided into MUFA intervention group (MUFA group,n=125) and control group (n=60). The patients in MUFA group consumed tea oil enriched in MUFA for 3 months, while those in control group consumed normal oil. The serum glucose (fasting plasma glucose and 2-hour postprandial glucose),fasting insulin and blood lipid were examined before intervention and three months after intervention, and the parameters were compared within groups and between groups. Results The serum fasting glucose, fasting insulin, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol 3 months after intervention were significantly lower than those before intervention in MUFA group (P0.05),while the serum fasting glucose, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol in MUFA group were significantly lower than those in control group 3 months after intervention (P0.05). Conclusion Dietary consumption of MUFA can improve the glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the role of community-based intervention among diabetic patients for the control of blood glucose, blood fat, blood pressure and body weight. Methods Patients in a specific community with type 2 diabetes mellitus were selected in the study, with 133 in the exercise group,200 in the integration group and 140 in the control group.Intervention and followup were conducted for 8 months, and clinical parameters including blood glucose were detected. Results Both exercise and integrated therapeutics could decrease the levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG) and postprandial 2-h blood glucose, with a more significant descending degree in the integration group than the exercise group(P

ABSTRACT

Objective In order to study the value of drug treatment for leukemia, quercetin was delivered to the cultured NB4 cell line. MethodsUsing RT- PCR and western blot, we studied the expression of mutant p53 gene and protein after inducing 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120h by the quercetin with different concentrations (30, 60, 90μmol/L). Results We verified the results that quercetin with concentration of 30 ~90μmol/L could successfully inhibit the expression of mutant p53 protein, but the mutant p53 gene did not have. ConclusionThat data suggested that quercetin would be an effective method for the therapy of leukemia.
